Bamya- Tita’s famous Syrian Okra Stew Recipe
Ingredients:
- ½ a Lemon
- Meat Chunks
- Okra
- 2 Tomatoes
- Tomato Paste
- Minced Garlic
- Coriander
- Olive Oil
- Tomato Paste
- 1 Spoon of Sugar
- Basmati Rice
- Water
- Salt
- Pepper
Instructions:
- Boil the meat chunks with coriander and minced garlic in a saucepan. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, mix okra with 1 cup of the meat water. Cut up 2 tomatoes and place it in the bowl with minced garlic and coriander.
- Cook the mixture in a separate saucepan for about 3-4 minutes and pour 2 spoons of tomato paste, ½ cup of water, ½ a lemon, 1 spoon of sugar and 1 spoon of salt.
- Pour the mixture into the okra and add an additional 2 spoons of tomato paste.
- Stir the dish slowly and let the dish cook on a high heat for 10-20 minutes.
- Serve with basmati rice and enjoy.
