Fawwaz T. Ulaby

Fawwaz T. Ulaby is a Syrian American Professor of Electrical engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. 

He was born in Damascus, Syria and he is of Syrian descent. Fawwaz has served as the Founding Provost and Executive Vice President of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and has made significant research contributions to the development of micro-electronics for a suite of circuits and antennae for THz sensors and communications systems. 

Before his rise to fame, Fawwaz received his bachelor’s degree in physics from the American University of Beirut and his Ph.D in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. 

Throughout his career, Fawwaz received the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) GRSS Outstanding Service Award, the NASA Group Achievement Award, the William T. Pecora Award and the IEEE James H. Mulligan Jr. Education Medal.
