Joseph E. Aoun is a Lebanese American linguist and academic administrator.
He was born on March 26, 1953 in Beirut, Lebanon. Joseph served as dean of the University of Southern California’s College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, and currently works as the seventh president of Northeastern University.
Before finding success as an academic, Joseph received his doctorate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Throughout his career, Joseph has written several books on current issues facing the field of higher education, and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Joseph is the recipient of numerous awards, including his recent appointment as Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by the President of the French Republic.
