Laura Nader

Laura Nader is a Lebanese American Anthropologist. She was the first woman to receive a tenure-track position in the department.

She was born on February 16th, 1930, in California, and is of Lebanese descent. Before her rise to fame, she attended the California University of Berkeley and graduated with a Bachelors. She worked as an anthropology professor soon after. 

Throughout her career, she received many awards including the Distinguished Lecture Award, which she received in 2000 from the American Anthropological Association and the CoGEA Award, which she received from the Committee on Gender Equity in Anthropology in 2010.
