Lila Abu-Lughod

Lila Abu-Lughod is a Palestinian-American Anthropologist. She is also a Professor of Social Science in the Department of Anthropology at Columbia University in New York City.

She was born on October 21, 1952 in the United States and is of Palestinian descent. 

Since she was born to the talented academics Ibrahim and Janet Abu-Lughod, Lila Abu-Lughod grew up in an academic environment. Her mother, a distinguished American Sociologist, and father, a renowned Palestinian/American Political Scientist, initiated a tradition of recognized academic work.

She received the Guggenheim Fellowship for Social Sciences, US & Canada award.
