Norma Kamali

Norma Kamali is a Lebanese American fashion designer.

She was born on June 27, 1945, in New York, New York, and she is of Lebanese and Basque descent. Norma is best known for her unique garments made from silk parachutes and multi-use pieces, especially her famous “sleeping bag” coat.

Before her rise to fame, Norma received a degree in illustration from Fashion Institute of Technology.

Throughout her career, Norma has received many notable awards, including an honorary doctorate from Fashion Institute of Technology, a Coty Award, and the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Pioneer Award.
