Rana El Kaliouby is an Egyptian American computer scientist and entrepreneur in the field of expression recognition research and technology development, which is a subset of facial recognition designed to identify the emotions expressed by the face.
She was born in 1978 and is of Egyptian descent. She attended American University in Cairo (BS, MS); Newnham College, Cambridge (PhD).
She invented the company’s award-winning, automated emotion-sensing and analytics technology, used by over 1,400 brands and one-third of the Fortune Global 100 today.
