Ray Irani is a Lebanese American businessman.
He was born on January 13, 1935, in Lebanon, and is of Palestinian descent. Ray has served as the chairman, CEO, director, and COO of Occidental Petroleum. He also served as the president and COO of the Olin Corporation.
Before his rise to fame, Ray received his Bachelor of Science degree from the American University in Beirut. He also holds a doctoral degree in physical chemistry from the University of Southern California.
Throughout his career, Ray has received recognition for his work. In 2012 he was elected as a member of the National Academy of Engineering, widely considered the highest honor in American engineering. Additionally, he is an honorary fellow of the American Institute of Chemists and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
