Warak Enab- My Tita’s famous Syrian Grape Leaves Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 Jar of Grape Leaves
- 1 Cup of White Rice
- Ground Beef
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic
- Water
- 3 Lemons
Instructions:
- Wash the grape leaves and lay them flat.
- Cut the washed grape leaves into 2-3 pieces.
- Prepare the rice stuffing:
- Mix the cooked white rice with ground beef and 1-2 garlic cloves (for every jar of grape leaves, use 1 cup of rice).
- Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
- Place ¾ of a spoonful of the mix in the middle of a grape leaf piece and roll it tight.
- Place the rolled grape leaves into a large saucepan and pour 2 cups of water into the saucepan.
- Set the stove on high and leave it for 10 minutes until the grape leaves begin to boil and foam.
- Then, put 1 ½ cup of freshly squeezed lemons, and add salt as you would like.
- Cover the saucepan with a lid and leave the grape leaves to cook at the lowest setting for 4-5 hours.
- When done, flip the saucepan over onto a plate and enjoy.
