Warak Enab- My Tita’s famous Syrian Grape Leaves Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 Jar of Grape Leaves
  • 1 Cup of White Rice
  • Ground Beef
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic
  • Water
  • 3 Lemons

Instructions:

  1. Wash the grape leaves and lay them flat.
  2. Cut the washed grape leaves into 2-3 pieces.
  3. Prepare the rice stuffing:
  • Mix the cooked white rice with ground beef and 1-2 garlic cloves (for every jar of grape leaves, use 1 cup of rice).
  • Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
  1. Place ¾ of a spoonful of the mix in the middle of a grape leaf piece and roll it tight.
  2. Place the rolled grape leaves into a large saucepan and pour 2 cups of water into the saucepan.
  3. Set the stove on high and leave it for 10 minutes until the grape leaves begin to boil and foam.
  4. Then, put 1 ½ cup of freshly squeezed lemons, and add salt as you would like.
  5. Cover the saucepan with a lid and leave the grape leaves to cook at the lowest setting for 4-5 hours.
  6. When done, flip the saucepan over onto a plate and enjoy.
